Okay. I listened to a few moments and I guess there is something to it. Newsweek rumored last week of an arrest coming. Now there is a hearing for Heuermann today (formerly not on the schedule) and a media advisory was put out for that and about the hearing and a press conference after about new developments coming TODAY. People close to investigation she says yada yada yada are saying it is charges for Brainard Barnes.

I have to work but if Grizzly has this I'm sure there is news out there that does as well I'd think? Maybe someone can cover it or get a link etc. to the PC etc. and time and so on.

4th charge made for the murder of Maureen Brainard Barnes. Surprised no one here heard it or watched the presser. I saw the headline on a break. Just got home, have had no time to find a link yet.

Asa and daughter were in the courtroom. Why. Netflix I'm sure. Why would anyone attend yet a fourth murder their hub/father is charged with that they likely didn't know was going to be charged a day or two ago? Because they still believe in him? I doubt it. And now we have daughter too.

I'm POSITIVE they aren't there for the VICTIMS.

So I am finally watching the presser on a YT show from today. Maureen is charged as second degree murder and interestingly to have charged her as first degree CB would have had to do 3 murders in 24 months and they couldn't make that time frame work. Has anyone EVER heard of this? I sure haven't. I can only guess that means with a serial killer (because who else would have 3 in 24 months) and maybe when cause of death can't be determined with a serial killer?? News to me. Or is this some strange NY law?

I have no idea, only guessing logically as I am only just starting to watch the presser. Quite a lot heating up and going on in a lot of cases lately after being dead in news and courts through and past the holidays. I only wish I had the time to watch synopsis on all but then news and podcasters, etc. are having the same problem. It's like when L Daybell, Stauch and West were all going on at the same time not all that long ago. They can't be at or cover all live even from streaming, etc. in timely fashion. Murdaugh, Delphi, LISK, Montgomery, Daybell, just to name a FEW of things heating up right now and going on. I forget others, that isn't even all. And I don't count one that I hardly know of.

Lots of interesting stuff so far in the presser, some from the bail document that is out. Family was away during Barnes' murder but he joined them midtrip and they changed hotels at that time.

He searched for and used computer file shredding apps and more at certain times. And more. And more on cell phones, etc.

OF NOTE they had mitochondrial DNA on some of the hairs, they now have NUCLEAR DNA on ALL FIVE HAIRS.

All hairs being consistent in nuclear DNA is HUGE like 1 to a number with 48 ZEROES and one was to the 69th power, SIXTY NINE zeroes. All to Asa and Rex.

Grand jury is done with the Gilgo Four. It will be used for other victims/cases if led there as they investigate those.

There was a surprising amount of info shared here. Worth watching and I watched the right show and commentary on it all imo.

They of course haven't shared anywhere near all but they shared a lot that will be available in docs anyhow shortly.

This isn't an iffy case against CB, it is very rock solid, they have a TON of evidence and now NUCLEAR DNA on top of it.

So a hair from both him and his daughter was found on Brainard-Barnes. They followed his wife and daughter surreptitiously and waited till the daughter discarded a coffee cup.

"His lawyer, Michael Brown, called the new evidence “problematic.”

“All along we’ve been told there’s no nuclear DNA and now for the first time 13 years later, what was once unsuitable — we couldn’t get a DNA profile from a nuclear basis — is now nuclear-capable,” Brown told reporters.

“We’re going to look into that,” he added. “It’s problematic.”

When I was on break at work when I knew there was to be news and a presser I looked for it and I found the defense atty talking but no PC yet. And yeah he was talking how odd it was they couldn't get nuclear DNA results on any hairs and now they have on all.

I think this plays to the new advanced testing they did with Barnes.

Every SINGLE show I watched on this with experts and retired homicide detectives and I watched a few said they wouldn't want to be CB's attorney right now as this is a SOLID case and defense is in a spot. The ONLY ONE who when asked what defense they would now use or if there is any said they'd have to admit to sex, paid or not, and consensual BUT then the problem is each and every one you saw and had sex with was then murdered...? On the very night of contact, etc.

I don't know why his attorney even went on and thank goodness I didn't have time to watch him for long.

There is a lot in a few cases lately as things get back to court after the holidays. Daybell is another I haven't had time to check and listen to all on, Chad and Prior had a hearing today.

Problematic for the defense. It's passed Voire Dire and has been used for years in courts.

Thank you very much for the information hon. :nodding:💖

They hopefully are working on the other cases too like Karen Vergata and Shannon because these victims all need justice. That NY Post article is a good article to read and has some interesting comments.
If you watched the presser, DA said the four are now done, not done as in not still being investigated and readied for trial but done as to the grand jury and charges, that is complete. He then says now it is onto all the others to see what can be done to solve, determine, charge, etc. The Gilgo Four are a "wrap" in that respect and now the focus will be on the others. I am very much paraphrasing.

I don't think it is his daughter's hair, I think it was Asa's no? I think all five were Asa's and Rex's. First tests were mitochondrial which does mom's side and can only determine if daughter, mom, etc. but now nuclear tests were done. I'm not positive but am pretty certain from listening to the presser. I never heard a hair of the daughter's was on a victim and so now I read your article and it doesn't say that either but does say how they compared the hair to Victoria's energy drink can. They are talking back when aren't they? Or am I wrong? They were looking for the familial match/mother's line I think.

I may have misunderstood that but I thought one of the hair's belonged to the daughter. It was actually on the belt that was used on Maureen. I will reread it again though. I thought that having the daughter's and the wife's hair was a real slam dunk.

Excerpts from the article -

Hair samples found on three of the “Gilgo Four” victims were matches for DNA profiles investigators developed for Ellerup and her daughter, the filing states.
Both women were out of town when the murders took place, including in Atlantic City when Brainard-Barnes was killed — but Rex Heuermann was not, prosecutors said

Prosecutors said Tuesday that a male hair they have allegedly tied to Heuermann was found at the bottom of a burlap bag that Waterman was wrapped in when her body was discovered.

Female hairs also tied to the accused killer were found with the bodies of Brainard-Barnes and Costello, prosecutors alleged.
Brainard-Barnes’ body was found tied up with three leather belts.

“Hi, I saw your ad and wanted to see if we could set something up later,” Heuermann allegedly texted one of the victims on March 1, 2020.
“I’m don’t for the day,” the escort answered. “Does tomorrow work?”
Heuerman allegedly replied, “I am working all day. I was free today my wife is out for the day…. working Monday.”

(Not sure if that date "1 Mar 2020" is a typo because I don't know of any victims from 2020.)

I did read your article/link. I am going by the presser and something I then watched on it too. I think the mitochondrial may have been either Asa or daugher but thought the nuclear results now were all Asa and Rex but I am not 100 PERCENT but that's what I thought. Before it could have been Asa, her daughter or even her mother, etc.

IF it is the daughter's, then yes, that really brings it home doesn't it? I'd say also it was done at home. I know they could be transfers but I do lean towards the murders were done at the home and hairs from all three imo lend towards that even more.

I can't keep up at all or look into it, have tried to at least get the basics on news in several cases recently. Daybell, Troconis, this one, Delphi, etc. If you get a chance let me know. I'm curious. I think her sample was just a mitochrondrial from back when that could have been Asa as well. Not 100 percent though as I said.
