Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large​

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

Since it was still dark, maybe she too was wearing dark clothing/pajamas and she just had the door open a little bit and he just plain didn't see her.

Yeah, the first time I read it I pictured her standing there in the middle of the room, looking at him deer-in-headlights as he walked toward her, with him looking back at her. But now I think she probably just had cracked the door open and he couldn't actually see her. Something I think less likely, but possible, that I've seen floating around, is that he did see her. But knowing he'd been loud and with the dog barking, he needed to go, so he threatened her that if she called 911 he would come back and get her.

I don't really want to speculate too much as it's pretty pointless right now. But there are a lot of people still accusing her of being involved because of her behavior / lack of calling 911 immediately and that's just not fair based on what we know. There are many different and innocent reasons why she may not have.

Interesting .. his criminal case was showing after his initial hearing but it's been pulled back. Court documents are not available in this specific web application though if that helps.

That coincides with what I read early on with Reddit, that the roommates were too freaked out to talk to 911. I totally believe it because when I had my car accident, I couldn't figure out how to call 911 on my phone! I was in shock at seeing a FedEx truck coming at me and hitting my vehicle. What these girls witnessed was 1,000 times worse!

I heard people speculating about why the accused went south after the murders. Back to the "if it were me" scenario - I would want to know if someone saw me and was following me. Also, even though many say they think he kept the knife, he may have unloaded it during the drive.
