Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

One easy explanation I have for the roommates not being aware of what is going on is in observing my own child that is close in age and her friends. Nearly all of them lie in bed with their headphones/earbuds on, totally absorbed in watching videos and streaming and texting with friends so they don't bother others in the household that might be sleeping or watching their own devices.
Not being judgey at all, but when I was that age sometimes I was just plain drunk. And that can really mess with your senses. I can't begin to imagine how I would've reacted to the unbelievable horror of that night if I was impaired.

That is where I am but then add the ear bud enhancement and it is easy to see that they wouldn't have necessarily knew anything out of the ordinary was even happening.

One at least did though, enough to come out of her room and/or open the door at least twice if memory serves and while I appreciate the earbud thought, nothing has ever been said to indicate that so let's not let it get to be fact or anything. This was all in the wee hours and its debatable they were were even awake until awakened but hard to say. Could have been impaired but may not have been. I'm pretty sure we don't know any of that.

BUT on the earbud and tech thought, no kid from 10 to 40 who has one is without their phone either and yes us older adults as well, etc. If I heard something going on in my home or was in my bedroom and thought something was up and couldn't reach any roommate by text etc., I'd go through them all until reaching one and this makes me wonder what is on the two survivor's phones? Did they try to text or call the victims? What did they text each other and say? OR even was BK killing someone and their phone in their room started going off? Or because Dylan only heard things as she thought on the top floor and then XAna crying on her floor, did she only text Bethany?

Totally aside from whether Steve shared this or heard it from a grand juror, it is VERY believable this went on. And if a grand juror knew it it also helps explain why they went that route, protecting Dylan at least from a preliminary hearing and defense cross... Remember they tried to subpoena her and she got a lawyer who tried to quash it etc. and it eventually if I recall kind of just ended/died and I am not sure what was done outside of what we know as this is a largely sealed case...

There is some food for thought here and I am just realizing it... ASIDE from what was obvious at first, that a grand juror apparently spoke when they shouldn't have and a parent apparently or possibly has that info from same... Beneath the problems this can cause lies things that may very well be true and will come out at some point... And if these girls were awake, awakened and came to realize something was wrong, it makes it even harder to understand that no one called LE the next day until when was it, almost noon? If they were suspects, I'd say that was because they were getting rid of evidence but they aren't, BK is.

I don't really have a point, just kind of talking it out for my own reasoning and to clear the thoughts...

Grand Jurors are not supposed to tell anybody anything about what went on. 1st rule of grand juror club is we don't speak of grand juror club 😉

I know and that's why this is a big deal. I also think that reporter better be telling the truth because this is going to have repercussions and perhaps he should have been going to authorities before along with then reporting IF TRUE.

However, as a crime junkie, I am interested in if the claims are true as to the girls texting, etc.

Yeah and so do you believe it or no? It came across to me as like third hand info and so Steve saying he never talked to the reporter could be true but someone did...

I know a grand juror should not talk I never asked that question. No argument here. I said and am saying it is going to have repercussions and I'd think definitely need to be looked into and defense is going to take it and run with it.

It 100% needs to be looked into, if credible. At least to get to the root of the issue if the info came directly from a grand juror. It very well might not have came from one, too.

When if ever, is a grand juror allowed to talk? Can they after a conviction for instance like regular jurors can?

Your post did not let me go into any link or article.

I am interested in both parts of this, one where this reporter got this, if true, and what it will or may do to the case.

But second, as I said, what is what with the two roommates and of course what really went on that night re the two of them and the next morning. I'm in no way saying they are responsible, I don't mean that, but I would like to understand what the secrecy is and why it took TWO hours and hours to call 911. They may WELL have been scared to even come out of their rooms but could have called someone over so they felt safe to do so long before that...

I get these are all kids and any friends they called are as well. So I am understanding of that and not looking at it that way and in no way think they are perps or anything like that.

I think my issue is I feel or maybe want there to be a reason (not that there is ever any) and I feel BK popped in or was in the lives of someone in that house, whether living or dead, or stalked someone or all, etc. I think I am looking for the connection, motive, and so on. I get that there may not be one we understand but there is something just odd here, off here or missing for me. I"m all in on he did it but looking for the why I guess...

It wasn't a link but the link is listed in the image. The link loads a PDF so I just cropped that part.

It says they can't speak until a case is no longer being investigated.

Interesting so without further info it is a bit debatable. Is that considered when the jury diibands/someone has been charged or can't speak til after conviction...?

Why did court seal Bryan Kohberger’s medical records?

There’s been a rare point of agreement between prosecutors and the defense team of University of Idaho killing suspect Bryan Kohberger.

This week, both parties got a “protective order” keeping Kohberger’s medical records off-limits to anyone other than the “defense counsel, investigators and retained experts.”

Some are questioning why the protective order was necessary, since medical records are already protected by law.

Probably ensuring no office staff can open them, file them, copy them, etc. and also maybe in case of leaks and so by having an order, anyone else's hands on them would be an actual violation of a court order, not just HIPPA.

Records in my opinion aren't that private since staff workers and more see them at your lawyer's office, at your doctor's office, etc., etc. the copy service they use if you ever request copies and so on.
