Yeah, it would be reasonable doubt for me if they can't explain it. Hopefully the rapist will be caught soon and we can get some answers to this.

I wonder what the source of the DNA is, blood, semen, saliva, touch DNA? We haven't heard that yet, at least not that I've heard.
If it is on the handlebars of the bike, I would think it is touch DNA.

I think they must know who it is because he is a serial rapist. Maybe they just cannot find him. Not sure if he has murdered anyone else.
There is a bit more info in this newer DM article.

"Prosecutors admitted at a hearing held in the summer of 2021 that their own forensics team had uncovered DNA evidence that threatened to destroy their case against Barry. State technicians had found DNA on the glove compartment of Suzanne's car that partially matched an unknown male connected to three unsolved sexual assault cases in three different cities.
Barry Morphew and Jeff Libler were excluded from that DNA sample which meant there was a chance Suzanne had fallen into the hands of a sexual predator. "This DNA discovery is so significant," Gruber said. "All of a sudden, the seemingly implausible becomes more possible."
Judge Patrick Murphy wwas candid in his assessment of the case, saying it could go either way before a jury. He found enough probable cause to put it over for trial but ordered that Barry be released on $500,000 bond, observing that he thought there was not "a fair likelihood" that Barry would be convicted by a jury. Barry entered a plea of not guilty to the charges."

"His defense attorneys spent most of the hearings attempting to pick holes in the prosecution case – pointing to unknown male DNA discovered in the glove box of her car and suggesting a link to a sex offender arrested in Arizona."

According to this last extract I have posted, they clearly know who this guy is because he is a sex offender arrested in Az.

"Partially matched"

If they know his name I'm sure they'd release that to the public and have a reward offered.
Not sure they can do that. It could be a case that hasn't come to trial yet, for example. It's a weird one and the match is possibly to cases in 3 other locations , Chicago, Tempe and Phoenix, (ie two other states, Illinois and Arizona.)

A little bit more info about the DNA. It does seem they knew who it was. Now they have the remains, maybe they have probable cause to arrest now.

The documents indicate that the attorneys alleged that DNA evidence found in the glovebox of Suzanne’s car matched “the same profile as a single or multiple individuals across the country involved in sexual assault cases,” and say that after a year of having the evidence, Chaffee County Deputy District Attorney Jeff Lindsey followed up on an individual in Phoenix who appeared to match the DNA profile found on Suzanne’s glovebox, but the Arizona individual refused to cooperate and retained a lawyer. As the case moved from the investigation stage into the courtroom, it gained more and more local and national attention, media coverage and negative pretrial publicity, according to an order. As a result of this, the court decided on Feb. 1 Barry could not receive a fair trial in Chaffee County, and the case was moved to Fremont County. The case will stay in the 11th Judicial District.
"This is a high-profile case in a relatively small county with a small jury pool," the order reads. "The media saturation is high."

They obviously weren't sure enough of a match for an arrest on the sexual assaults though. "Appeared" to match means that they never verified it.

My point is they DID know who it was though but clearly couldn't verify it by getting it from him. He hired a lawyer. But now they have a dead body. Previously they did not know what had happened to her. If they find the same DNA on her remains too, it will be a slam dunk.

Having a lawyer doesn't keep you from getting arrested if you KNOW the dna matches. All it takes is enough proof to get a search warrant for a swab and there is nothing an attorney can do to stop a search warrant in nearly every case. They can cry all they want about how it was conducted after it is conducted, but not stop it from happening.

What proof would they have without a body and what offence would they charge him with to get the DNA though? Clearly they didn't do it for a reason and that reason was because they had charged her husband with it. They can go ahead now the case has been withdrawn from Barry and they have the remains.

They could charge him with the previous rapes if his dna matched. He had victims unrelated to this case.

This DNA PARTIAL match is not as significant as it sounds. I am trying like heck to find out what I watched by reporters with some SENSE and REMEMBER myself why rather than the rest of the world and judge who bought into this.

IF my recall is correct, do NOT quote me as I'm unsure, he is one of millions upon millions that would end up a partial match. It was a significant number if I am remembering correctly, meaning Iris made it into something it was not. I THINK that is what it was. Meaning almost any Tom, Dick or Harry could match or NOT be excluded. It is NOT an indication by any means that he is this rapist. Again, that is what I THINK it was. All I know is when I listened to the FACTS by a few who know the real story, it became entirely INSIGNIFICANT to me. This is a bunch of b.s. that the judge, the media and the public turned into a FACT and it isn't one, I know that much--that some rapist's DNA was in her vehicle, etc.--NOT the case.

Why did they drop the case against BM? I'm not really sure about that bit. Do you think they will rearrest him now they have her remains identified?
