MASSAPEQUA PARK, Long Island (WABC) -- Prosecutors are searching for any possible link between Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann and other local murders.
Sources say officials are looking for victim "trophies," such as earrings or locks of hair, at the 59-year-old's house.
Crime scene detectives spent the weekend sifting through an Amityville storage facility and
plan to search a second facility in Farmingdale on Monday. Both storage facilities are owned by the same company.
Investigators have already carried out a mountain of evidence from his cluttered home in Massapequa Park.
Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said Heuermann had "over 200 guns" in his home, double what had initially been reported.

Tierney, personally appearing before the judge, called Heuermann an "ongoing danger." He implored the judge not to allow bail as Heuermann owns houses in South Carolina and Las Vegas and is a flight risk.
200 guns. Wow. He does seem like the type though that everything he has an obsession with he likely goes overboard on.
More homes in other states. Well didn't know that but it sure fits some thoughts I've had and one his searching for serial killers by states. It seemed to be put down to wanting to see how many there were, what his competition was, etc. but my first thought was he has traveled and killed in other states. I think he was doing a general search to see if others had been connected or thought to be a serial killer in other states etc. and probably because he did it. Now I'm even more convinced than ever. There were other reasons too and I will repeat that I am still worried about the child porn thing too. I don't think this in every case but from this arrest and the first info we were hearing even before all docs have been reviewed, I just felt he's done a lot more. And I think he's different too. He seems to have a type of victim with Gilgo but his porn type searches were quite varied...
First of all who needs four homes and in such widespread areas? Are they all empty or rented out or what? Are they all dumps? Vegas immediately strikes as prostitute heaven for a type like him and plenty of desert to get rid of bodies maybe not even found yet. Look how long it took with Gilgo and those women before any were found OR to connect them. Is his wife a gambler? I mean would most people who lived in NY want a home in Vegas of all places? Does she work? Does he travel for work? Seems to me he is pretty Manhattan centered. South Carolina too. Why? She is from Iceland so I'd doubt her family is in either... What about his family? I doubt they are in the three other states he owns homes in, maybe in one... Again a lot we don't know yet. Is he an only child, etc.
I think they are going to find more. I don't know if he was careful with his DNA or it was only because bodies were so degraded but if there is any in other cases, it is going to hit in Codis BUT that depends on if the other women in other states have been found, if they were looked for or if it was largely ignored like this one was in the beginning for how long. Vegas for instance if a number of prostitutes go missing over time, I doubt it is reported much, it sure wouldn't hit the news and no big searches fro the missing women would occur. We KNOW that. In Vegas, I don't think so... And that's IF they were women/adults/prostitutes. I'm hoping he didn't harm any children but I'm doubtful. However, maybe he knew if a child went missing, there'd be HUGE interest versus a prostitute and maybe he managed to hold off. I'd sure be looking at any children he was around and checking that out though, even as to sexual molestation and that includes his own child and stepchild, I'd be checking into it... This guy is BAD NEWS. I think he was set up in how many states and wants to be top of the serial killer chart for both "smarts" and numbers, cops not figuring all of them and where out, etc.
I don't know but I'm also thinking not necessarily that there were other perps but am thinking of things like pedo rings like hinted at in Delphi, etc. I'm not even saying he was in one but I am thinking of homes some distances from each other in the U.S... We only knew of Massachusetts early on. Now we have two more. Are we going to find he has any in other countries and/or at minimum ever region of the US or what he was trying for. West, East, South, etc...
Anyhow, not sure how much LE knew when they arrested him as to his homes and the storage units but if they knew all that, I'd hope in the other states, they organized simultaneous searches so that no one, wife, daughter, buddy, renter, etc. could remove anything for him.
I think he's different. I think he has interest in varied ages and races, etc. Most serial killers we know of and that I can think of were before the huge internet thing. I think this man was way down the porn rabbit hole and I doubt we've seen the tip of the iceberg of how far but we see torture, abuse, mostly females so far in the searches shared but mostly young ones. However he also inserted black on one search. Asian on another. And blonde and blue eyed in others. And also chubby. The one that REALLY bothers me even worse is old janitors and school girl. Not like male teacher or gym coach, SICK ENOUGH but this one was so specific and the "group" thing...I'm trying to walk the line here in talking of this because it really disturbs me a LOT and worries me about the specificity... I don't know, maybe his sick mind just would come up with such a specific search but I think he was searching for something he knew of maybe or was real or something... Faked porn is one thing but did he have actual child porn?? It sure sounded like it at the outset. You all know I mean not of age girls like 18 who are made to look 15 or something... He is searching for TEN year olds. This is dark stuff and likely he was watching REAL stuff of kids being abused and/or killed. Did he watch such and then go out and get a prost and murder at MINIMUM is what he was doing and I'll bet this guy is far beyond that in his crimes...
Excuse my not well put together post. I don't have the words for what I feel about this guy and how big I think this is going to be IF they really do all they can with regard to it, the other states, other missing women in them, etc. IF missing prostitutes have even been found in the other states. Let's also remember this man was known, interviewed, important and hardly the only one from all we know on Long Island hiring prostitutes... He was involved in City stuff as well... I'm not really saying anything other than this is no over the road truck driver who no one important knows or dealt with.
I'm tired, worked til past close. Not having clarity just trying to say there's more. And not just that area and if he is not responsible for the other prostitutes in that area, then it wouldn't be stretch for me to think someone he knows was. It also wouldn't be a stretch for me to think he has other types of victims as to age or sex.
He is so big as to be a bit unforgettable. It wouldn't surprise me tons of people come forward and there are more storage units yet and other things because they will recognize the man who bought burner phones in their store with cash, guns in their store, rented a storage unit from them or even who knows an apartment or motel room and paid cash... Maybe even owns more homes than yet known about.
Okay. I'm stopping. My thoughts on this one just are really bad and I'm getting across what I mean as clear as mud. Too many words because I can't make my point and maybe that's because I am still figuring some of it out too...
