A sheriff's office in Alabama issued an alert Friday night after an inmate and the assistant director of corrections went missing earlier in the day. Authorities said the inmate, who was being held on capital murder charges, should be considered "armed and extremely dangerous."

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton told reporters Friday night that Vicki White, a 25-year veteran at the department, left the local detention center with Casey Cole White at 9:41 a.m. He said she told other officials she was going to drop him off at the courthouse for a mental health evaluation and then was going to seek medical attention because she wasn't feeling well. Despite having the same last name, the two are not related.

Shortly after 11 a.m., someone found her patrol vehicle in a parking lot of a shopping center. At 3:30 p.m., officials became aware that no one had been able to contact her, and that the inmate had not been returned to custody.

So, which way would you go, if you were on the run?

I don't think they are in Nashville. They knew the car would be found eventually. They had a big head start. I'd guess they continued north to the border and across(?) as they do have a huge head start, BUT since they knew the car would be found I think it more likely they changed direction going back south or going east or west...

Nashville may be big city and lots of tourists but their pics are in the news, etc..

How easy is it to sneak across the Canadian border? I wonder if Casey asked any of his criminal buddies about it.

I honestly don't know but she used aliases so there is a good chance they have fake documents. The thing is he is a fugitive and as we know the best chances most feel is to get out of our country, makes it a lot harder to get them back on US soil/apprehend them. It just seems likely to me but who knows... I didn't really go for Mexico just because of his height and I just think she kept talking of retiring on the beach but I think she was saying the opposite of what was planned most likely...

They also could be going to hole up somewhere until they hope things die down some but I think it more likely they will get out of here as fast as they "safely" can...

I wonder where there might be some abandoned cabins that either of them knows about?

Oh boy, here we go:

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office is re-examining the case of a Lexington woman who died in 2008. Her family alleges Casey White, a recently escaped inmate out of Lauderdale County, was involved.

The sheriff's office confirmed deputies have been in contact with the family of Christy Shelton and are reviewing the case. Limestone County Coroner Mike West said he has supplied his report from Shelton's death to the sheriff's office, as well.

Meanwhile, family members are speaking out on social media, alleging Casey White was connected to the death. Casey White has a long history of criminal violence and was awaiting trial on the capital murder of Connie Ridgeway in 2015 when he escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center.

If it broke down, then they had to have been on foot for awhile! Any stolen cars in the area?

I don't know if I buy that it broke down... The report says no tag on it. Unless they took it off after leaving it there, they were driving tagless and if so, I don't know how they weren't stopped prior BUT I'm thinking they just needed it to get to wherever their planned other ride/car/person was...?

True. There could have been a car parked there for them to trade.

IF they were attempting to spray paint the car they would do its entirety and this means they were "somewhere" when they tried to do this... Where, I wonder...? I mean I don't think you are going to start trying to spray paint a car in a WMart or hotel parking lot as someone would be sure to notice and ask you why you were doing that in a parking lot...? Sooo....
