A sheriff's office in Alabama issued an alert Friday night after an inmate and the assistant director of corrections went missing earlier in the day. Authorities said the inmate, who was being held on capital murder charges, should be considered "armed and extremely dangerous."

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton told reporters Friday night that Vicki White, a 25-year veteran at the department, left the local detention center with Casey Cole White at 9:41 a.m. He said she told other officials she was going to drop him off at the courthouse for a mental health evaluation and then was going to seek medical attention because she wasn't feeling well. Despite having the same last name, the two are not related.

Shortly after 11 a.m., someone found her patrol vehicle in a parking lot of a shopping center. At 3:30 p.m., officials became aware that no one had been able to contact her, and that the inmate had not been returned to custody.

Oh boy, here we go:

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office is re-examining the case of a Lexington woman who died in 2008. Her family alleges Casey White, a recently escaped inmate out of Lauderdale County, was involved.

The sheriff's office confirmed deputies have been in contact with the family of Christy Shelton and are reviewing the case. Limestone County Coroner Mike West said he has supplied his report from Shelton's death to the sheriff's office, as well.

Meanwhile, family members are speaking out on social media, alleging Casey White was connected to the death. Casey White has a long history of criminal violence and was awaiting trial on the capital murder of Connie Ridgeway in 2015 when he escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
Yes they claimed she (Shelton) committed suicide with a sawed off shotgun to her chest but he was present... I wouldn't buy that if I were her family either I don't think...

Me either! I'm sure glad they aren't afraid to look at the case again.

Vicky White is in huge danger and I wonder if she realizes that yet.
A show I was watching said there are like five questionable things or deaths around this man. I didn't catch it all. I don't know how willingly they opened the case of Shelton again, it sounds like the family has tried before but when this happened, they took the opportunity I think to take to SM and raise some interest in it, etc. I think...

I hate when suicides are just assumed and it seems to happen a lot more than it should. Not sure on this case but it seems likely... Women seem rarely to shoot themselves and then in the chest and then with a sawed off shotgun??

And yeah, this woman he is with truly had/has to believe a LOT of lies to have been dumb enough to go with this man. Maybe she LIKES how dangerous he is... Bonnie and Clyde and all ya know...

I just don't understand why it took them so long to identify the Ford Edge!

probably because on another article listed, she bought it under a different name AND it probably still registered to the previous owner. Here tow lots have a week or two (can't remember which one) to notify registered owner they have their car impounded. Most wait as long as legally possible so they can rake in lot fees.

Dog the Bounty Hunter thinks they may have rented a place to stay for awhile until things die down.

My thought would be renting a B&B or vacation home but if she did so online, they'd be a trail UNLESS she used someone else's card or has a card under an alias... I'll have to watch him when I get a minute but most rentals are going to run credit checks, security deposits and leases unless he is talking a vacation rental. Is that what he meant? And I don't think you'd get one of those ahead of time easily without a credit card holding it, etc.

And the couple wasn't even know to be missing yet when the car was found abandoned the way it sounds. It wouldn't have been in the news yet, no BOLOs etc.

I'm not great or able to keep up with all lately but these guys are about one of my favorites these days but I don't think to check all of the time and don't get to always watch. Most likely know there are or were a few retired cops or detectives on YT and I've watched several but I really like these two. They aren't condescending, have some humor and are just informative, real, personable. They touch on the sheriff in this case and the possible errors in locating the car and realizing it was abandoned days ago but also point out this happens even in big departments, etc. Anyhow, they are also good and better every day on staying on top of what they do follow for cases.
